Old Emanuel Class of 1973 Reunion day 13th April 2025
We had a great day out, firstly with a fabulous school visit arranged by the 2 Anna's and a talk given by Tony Jones the skool archivist and after that it was up to the Roundhouse for beers, buffet and lots of catching up.
This blog is two fold, firstly to show the videos I took and secondly to provide a print out of the handouts the school kindly provided so that those that attended, those that sadly couldn't make it on the day due to some serious train "issues" and those that said yes but meant no over a period of 5 months get a chance at their leisure, should they wish to, peruse what I personally find very interesting both about our year group and the historical facts about Emanuel School.
If you are an Alumni registered with the Emanuel Facebook account you can see what they had to say about the OE70 Meetup Here If you are not it may be worth registering, but clearly up to you. Hope it helps
Best wishes Keef

VIDEOS
I started off after checking into the Travelodge in Clapham Junction by strolling up to the Roundhouse to check off with the deputy manager (Artur) that everything was good for our event tomorrow, private room (almost) and contents of the buffet, yep that looked good, and to ensure the buffet would be delivered about 12.45pm allowing time for folks to get their drinks in, collect their badges, say an initial hallo and settle in for some fun.
In the evening sadly quite late on a couple of our number dropped out. The same was true on the Sunday morning, mostly train issues.
On the day, Sunday the 13th April 2025 we few met at the gate off Spencer Park ready to sign in with Anna. From the Library , having been given the history guide, we were treated to a fab guided tour with history by school archivist Tony Jones. Just so informative. At the end of the session we were given some handouts, especially the Year of 1973 handout pertinent to our year. However no caps #smile After signing out, saying our goodbyes and thanks to the staff who after all were doing this on a Sunday in their Easter break (huge respect) we then strolled off up to the Roundhouse to meet our other school "mates" (wey aye the lads) #smile
There was so much food left over, hopefully folks helped them selves to the provided doggie bags. There was only Tim & Ed left when I left with Andy & David to meet up with Annie (my wife) in the Falcon for some more catching up, then it was goodbye
Do hope everyone that was able to come enjoyed themselves, much of the email feedback I have received since seemed to indicate that.
The next day Annie and I called back in on Lessar Avenue , Clapham common south side to see my family home where I was born and from where each morning often with David Harvey I would walk across the whole length of Clapham common, up Battersea rise to Emanuel, it certainly kept us fit.
HANDOUTS
These two handouts were given out by the school team, i have included them here should those who either were unable to attend on the day or those who didn't attend at all have an interest, I think they are of real interest.

THE BADGES
Not great but the puzzle was first to find your own badge and then to work out how to attach it to yourself, the pin on the back wasn't great, indeed the prong of a fork came in very handy. I (keef) confess to owning the artwork but not in my defense the hardware. They came in useful , if you had good eyesight, as in some cases 50 years since we last met could be a strain on the memory banks.

THE END
Bye from our Year Book, only much better looking than us I accept #smile
So much fun, maybe it could be done again in the future?
